Yusuf Pathan Profile

Yusuf Pathan first made his mark as a hard-hitting batsman and offspinner for the Baroda Under-16 team in the Vijay Merchant Trophy in 1999-2000. His impressive showings saw him quickly climb the rungs to the Baroda U-19 and the West Zone U-19 sides. He made his Ranji debut against Saurashtra in 2001-02, but it wasn't until the 2004-05 season, by when younger brother Irfan Pathan was donning the national colours, that he established himself as a regular in the Baroda squad. Pathan ended the 2004-05 season as Baroda's fourth-highest scorer and third-highest wicket-taker.

His ability to score runs quickly - he had the highest strike rate in the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy - and impressive performances in the Deodhar Trophy and Twenty20 domestic tournament in the 2006-07 season was rewarded with a spot in India's squad for the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa.

Pathan's impressive showing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League in 2008 - 435 runs with four fifties at a strike-rate of 179 - earned him an ODI call-up for the tri-series in Bangladesh and the Asia Cup in Pakistan. He recorded the fastest fifty of the IPL's first season - off 21 balls against the Deccan Chargers - and his dazzling all-round show in the final was instrumental in Rajasthan's triumph. A run of patchy scores in India's limited-overs squads saw Pathan dropped, but he replied with emphatically with a 190-ball unbeaten double century - his second in the match - as West Zone sealed the highest first-class chase ever in the 2010 Duleep Trophy final.

His ODI career hit a peak when he helped India chase 316 with a blistering century against New Zealand. At the IPL auctions in 2011, he was snapped up by Kolkata Knight Riders for a bumper US$2.1 million, and shortly after, was picked in India's Squad for the World Cup.

ShaneWatson Profile:
To conquer international cricket, Shane Watson first had to beat his fragile body. Despite boasting an athletic figure made for photo shoots, Watson's frame was so brittle it threatened to break him. He refused to give up. Not through recurrences of back stress fractures, hamstring strains, calf problems, hip complaints, a dislocated shoulder or a suspected heart attack that turned out to be food poisoning.
He changed his training, preferring pilates to weights, gave up alcohol, but not his dream. It finally paid off in 2009, when he was chosen as a Test opener in the middle of the Ashes series. Many batsmen would have been uncomfortable with the promotion from the middle order, especially after failing when given the job with Queensland, but Watson has been used to re-inventing himself. In his first eight Tests in the new role he scored seven fifties and a 120. With a history of setbacks, it was not a surprise that his first Test century became such a drama, but after two scores in the 90s and an 89, he finally brought it up at the MCG - thanks to a single from a dropped catch. He has earned some luck.At the crease he is an aggressive brute with a broad chest, a right-handed disciple of Matthew Hayden, and someone who often doesn't need to follow-through to gain a boundary. However, his drives and pulls are delivered in a much smoother style than his former Queensland team-mate and his technique is worth copying. As a bowler he is willing and speedy, but not quite as good as he thinks he is, and is prone to post-delivery exchanges. He picks up handy wickets and delivers useful overs in all forms, although he is a run-getter first and not someone who would usually be picked on bowling alone. After years of doubt he has developed into a very modern, complete and enviable package.

Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan Biography
Full Name: Irfan Khan Pathan
Born: October 27, 1984, Baroda, Gujarat
Major teams: India, Baroda, Middlesex
Batting style: Left-hand bat
Bowling style: Left-arm medium-fast

Achievements:

    * First bowler to take a hat-trick in the first over of a Test match (first by an Indian in away match)
    * ICC Emerging Player of the Year 2004

Irfan Pathan is an Indian Cricket player who has been playing for the team since the year 2003. Although primarily he is a Left-Arm Fast-Medium bowler, over the period of time Irfan has evolved himself as a bowling allrounder.

Early Life:
He was born on the 27th of October 1984 at Baroda, Gujrat. He was brought up along with his half-brother Yusuf Pathan, a yet another Indian Cricket player. Although their family wanted them to become Islamic priests, both the brothers got more interested towards the game of Cricket.

Irfan was selected in the Under-14 Cricket teams of Baroda, and was a member of the Under-15 Baroda team at a National Level Cricket Championship. Afterwards, he made his debut in the First Class Cricket in the year 2000-01. He got to improve his bowling skills at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai, and took 6 wickets at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2002 in New Zealand. The next year he was selected as a part of the Indian A team and went to the tour of England.

In the year 2003 he managed to grab 18 wickets at an Under-19 Asian One Day International (ODI) Cricket Tournament held in Pakistan, and had a Bowling Average of 7.38 at the tournament.

Test and ODI Debut:
Irfan Pathan began his Test Cricket career with a Test match against Australia played at Adelaide Oval in the year 2003, when he was 19 years of age. He didn’t fare quite well at the match though, claiming a single wicket of Matthew Hayden, and giving away 160 runs in the match. His One Day International (ODI) debut was made with a match against Australia in the Tri-Nation One Day International (ODI) Cricket tournament comprising of India, Australia and Zimbabwe in the year 2004. In the match, he took now wicket and gave away 61 runs.

Although in the whole tournament, he took 16 wickets with an average of 31. He also got his first Man of the Match award in this tournament in a match against Zimbabwe wherein he took 4 wickets giving away only 24 runs. In the second final match of this tournament, Irfan reportedly mocket the Australian batsman Damien Martyn, and was reprimanded for this behavior by the match referees.

Beginning of the year 2005 didn’t prove to be very good for Pathan, as on the grounds of poor performance he was dropped out of the team, although he was called back in the team for the Indian Oil Cup held in Sri Lanka in August 2005, wherein he grabbed 6 wickets. After this, he gave is best ODI performance in a match against Zimbabwe in the Videocon Triangular Series, in which he took 5 wickets and gave only 27 runs.

Irfan Pathan as a batsman:
Greg Chappell, the coach of Indian Cricket team at that time, utilized Irfan Pathan as a useful batsman and he proved his caliber by scoring 83 runs in just 70 balls in an ODI against Sri Lanka played at Nagpur in the Limited Overs Challenger Series 2005. In the Test Series against Sri Lanka, he scored 93 runs in the 2nd Test, and 83 runs in the 3rd Test match. The phase from late 2006 to mid 2007 was a bad one for Pathan, for he was omitted out of both the Test and the ODI teams, and although was included in the 2007 World Cup Cricket team from India, couldn’t play a single match in the tournament as the team crashed out in the first round itself.

The ICC Twenty-20 World Cup 2007 Hero:
In the year 2007, Irfan Pathan came back with a bounce when he was declared Man of the Match in the ICC Twenty-20 World Cup 2007 final match against Pakistan. He took 3 wickets giving away 16 runs in the match.

Apart from showing average performance in some Test and ODI matches afterwards, Irfan Pathan participated in the Indian Premiere League 2008 from the Kings XI Punjab team, and took 15 wickets giving away 350 runs at an average of 23.33 runs. He also played in Kitply Cup and Asia Cup 2008, and scored 86 runs and took 7 wickets in the tournaments.

Overall Performance:
In his overall Test Cricket career, Irfan Pathan played 29 Test matches in which he scored a total of 1105 runs with average of 31.57 runs, and highest score of 102 runs. In these matches, he took 3226 runs and took 100 wickets at an average of 32.26 runs.

Whereas in the ODI Cricket, he played 107 matches and scored 1368 runs with an average of 22.8 runs and made a highest score of 83 runs. He took a total of 152 wickets in the ODIs and gave away 4547 runs with an average of 29.91 runs.

Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle Biography
Christopher \"Chris\" Henry Gayle (born 21 September, 1979 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a West Indian cricketer who plays international cricket for the West Indies and domestic cricket for Jamaica. He is a hard-hitting left-handed opening batsman who can bowl right-arm off spin when called upon. Gayle has a variety of quality shots that he can perform. Gayle played for the West Indies at youth international level after he made his first-class debut aged 19 for Jamaica. He played his first One Day International 11 months later, and his first Test match 6 months after that. Gayle, who normally opens the innings when he plays for the West Indies, is a destructive batsman who is most effective playing square of the wicket. In July 2001, Gayle (175), together with Daren Ganga (89) established the record for opening partnerships at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo when they put on 214 together against Zimbabwe. However, generally speaking he had a slow start to his international career, but invigorated it in 2002, ending the year with three centuries against India in November and becoming the fourth West Indian to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year. Along with Vivian Richards, Sanath Jayasuriya and Brian Lara he is the only player in One Day International history to have three or more scores of 150. In 2005, Gayle was dropped for the first Test against South Africa along with six other players following a dispute over sponsorship issues. He returned for the second test but had a poor series until the fourth Test, where he made his career-best: a match-saving 317. It was the first ever triple century against South Africa and up until Mahela Jayawardene made 374, it was the highest individual Test score against them. In August 2005, Gayle joined Worcestershire for the rest of the English season, playing eight matches. He made two half-centuries in three first class matches and two half-centuries in five one-day matches, and won one Man of the Match award in the one-day National League. However, Worcestershire were relegated after Gayle made 1 in the final match against Lancashire. Gayle was named Player of the 2006 Champions Trophy, where the West Indies nearly defended the title which they won in 2004, being defeated in the final by Australia. Gayle scored three centuries and totaled 474 runs, 150 more than any other batsman, and also took eight wickets in as many matches. Gayle, in keeping with the rest of the West Indies team, had a poor World Cup in 2007. He recorded a series of low scores; the one exception being a blistering 79 off 58 balls against England in the West Indies' final match. Gayle currently holds the record for the highest innings in a Twenty20 International, having scored 117 against South Africa in the World Twenty20 Championship, and, to date, is the only batsman to have hit a century in the Twenty20 format, hitting ten sixes in the match. He is currently the only cricketer to have hit centuries in all three formats of international cricket. In April 2008, Gayle was auctioned by the franchise Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premier League, but missed the opening games due to an ongoing Sri Lanka tour to the Caribbean. When he finally joined the team, he missed out on the action due to a groin injury he picked up during that tour. Afterwards, he had to leave to join the West Indies team for a home series against Australia, thereby not playing in the inaugural version of the IPL at all.

The man who really put the reverse into swing. Waqar Younis bucked the 1980s trend of pitching fast and short by pitching fast and full. Not an obvious recipe for success until you factor in prodigious late inswing, which was designed to smash into the base of leg stump or the batsman's toes. In his youth, he was one of the fastest ever. Waqar's surging run was a glorious sight - and an incredible strain on his body. His method of aiming for the stumps rather than the batsman earned him the best strike rate of any bowler with over 200 Test wickets. It could have been better: back injuries cut short his prime, but determination has always resurrected him, although he was easily pushed over the line that divides aggression and intimidation. He looked to have been put out to pasture by the end of 2000, but before long he had been appointed captain for the 2001 tour to England. Initial results suggested that this was an inspired move, but in October 2002 he was at the helm as Pakistan crumbled to 59 and 53 all out against Australia in Sharjah. He managed to retain the job for the World Cup, but a disastrous tournament - Pakistan beat only Holland and Namibia - meant an unceremonious exit. Unable to force his way back into a side building for the future, he announced his retirement in April 2004. As a batsman, lusty blows were his staple, but Waqar batted with the air of a man who thinks he could have done better. The next stage of his career began in March 2006 when he was appointed as Pakistan's bowling coach, and he has also been a regular in the commentary box.

Shakib Al Hasan is a Bangladeshi cricketer and captain of the national team...
Born in Magura, Bangladesh

[Shakib Al Hasan] Shakib Al Hasan, (born 24 March 1987 in Magura) is a Bangladeshi international cricketer and captain of the national team. He is an allrounder, batting left-handed in the middle order and bowling slow left arm orthodox. Shakib made his One Day International debut against Zimbabwe in August 2006. Shakib became Bangladesh's captain in July 2009 after Mashrafe Mortaza injured himself in his first match in charge. Shakib was 22 years old at the time. Initially a temporary position until Mortaza recovered, Shakib's success against the West Indies, securing his side's first overseas series win, ensured he retained the position even once Mortaza had recovered. He was named The Wisden Cricketer's "Test cricketer of the year" in November 2009. In July 2010, he stepped down from the ODI captaincy to concentrate on his personal performance. Mortaza took over until injury struck again and Shakib was asked to assume the role.
